"Bangaranga" comes from Jamaican Patois "bangarang," but DARA transformed it into something uniquely Bulgarian—a "happy riot" filled with emotion, intensity, and liberation. Inspired by the ancient kukeri ceremony where masked dancers make loud noises to chase away evil spirits, this song became noise and fire and rhythm deployed as a force for good. As DARA said, it's "an invitation, not a threat"—pop music with folklore bones that needs no translation.
